Working together as a community to establish a solid foundation towards independence,
community wellbeing, and cultural identity now and for future generations.

The Pilbara RYDE Program provides young people (16-25 years) in the Karratha Region with the opportunity to complete their 50 hours of supervised driving with a volunteer driving mentor.

How do I get involved?

If you want to get involved as a participant first see whether you fit the following criteria:

  • 16-25 years old
  • Have your learner’s permit.
  • Do not have access to a suitable supervised driver
  • Do not have access to a suitable vehicle
  • Cannot afford private driving lessons

If you fit this criteria, contact a RYDE Provider and make an appointment to meet with a support worker.

Where will RYDE driving sessions take place?

The Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation (Across from McDonalds near the ANZ Bank) is the start and end location for each driving session.

How much does it cost?

Compulsory driving assessment with partnering Driving School = $75

RYDE sessions = $15 for a 90 minute session. Sessions are paid for using credit codes bought through the RYDE website with Paypal, a credit card or debit card.

*All costs are currently covered under the Driving Access and Equity Pilot Program, funded by DoT. Participation in RYDE is free for everyone!
